About 48 Bikers
Motorcycles, back roads, people, places, rivers, mountains, deserts, weather and unknown adventure.
Barely made it through high school, no college for me as it wasn’t in the works. After bumming around trying to be a cowboy, a mechanic, and a construction worker, but mostly succeeding in only being a hood I joined the Army. Something happened in the Army I was not expecting. I found out quickly that if I tried hard, exerted myself that good things would happen. I got promoted through the ranks faster which meant more money and stature and I found out I liked both. It was addicting, like a drug. What could I do next? I carried that with me out of the Army and into every job after. I also found out that I had itchy feet, couldn’t stand still or stay in one geographical place very long.
While climbing the ladder in various careers I could never get rid of the rebel that was born inside me. It caused a few problems along the way, but at other times it became a strength and I learned to control it. The control is called learned behaviors and I learned to use those behaviors to my advantage although I longed for the natural behaviors and missed them. Fast forward 35 years and here I am. I still apply the learned behaviors but am no longer restrained from the natural behaviors which to be honest is a hell of a lot more fun. You become lucky by putting yourself into position to be lucky and I am one lucky SOB! You stay lucky by keeping out of position to be unlucky, which is much more of a challenge.
Luck and fortune (hard earned) have allowed me to take off on my motorcycle and experience what this great country has to offer. I see things (a learned behavior) others don’t see and I twist them into a story (natural behavior). I love this country, I love history and I love the freedom and feeling of being in the wind on a motorcycle. Join along for the ride and adventure. Random daily blog post still found on www.colesclassic.com and 48bikers will be used for what I hope to be a future book about the lower 48 states and 48 of it’s colorful bikers.
10 minutes of your day can put you with me, have fun and dream!
